So, you want to try out the latest macOS beta but don’t want to lose the stability of the current system? You’re not alone. We also like to get an early look at the latest software, but we‘re also very aware that beta software is often buggy and that the majority of apps used on a daily basis aren’t yet compatible with it, and so overwriting the stable macOS currently being used could potentially cause the unwelcome deaths of millions of neurons.

With the use of Terminal, anyone can run multiple instances of the same application on a Mac. When you have multiple windows open in a web browser, the windows are all running under the same Process ID (PID). But, with multiple instances, each has its own unique PID. So why would you want to run multiple instances of the same app? There are several reasons a person may run clones of the same. Use open -n from the terminal to open another instance of the same app, but it still won't work if the app doesn't support it (Audacity doesn't, as above, nor does Firefox). See Launch & Run Multiple Instances of Any Application in Mac OS X.
But guess what? macOS provides a neat way to run two operating systems at the same time via its dual-boot utility known as Boot Camp Assistant, allowing users to select the operating system through the Startup Manager. Although it isn’t possible to install a second version of macOS with Boot Camp (only Windows), it can be tricked into booting your Mac in the desired beta OS.
Download CleanMyMac X from MacPaw’s website and clean up to 500MB of junk data from your computer while enjoying all the features of the software without major limitations.
How to Install macOS Beta on Your Mac
Mac users with startup disk formatted as APFS will need to follow some preparatory tasks to get the system ready:
Install macOS Mojave
Next time you start your computer it will automatically boot into macOS Mojave, which is fine if you only want to use the latest operating system. However, if your daily tasks are centered around the ‘old’ and stable operating system, then you’ll need to do a simple trick to make sure that the Mac will only boot into macOS Mojave when you want it to.

Those who skipped formatting their drive to APFS can still install the public beta macOS Mojave (or any later OS). Mute individual apps. The only change in the preparation stage is to add a partition instead of a new volume and format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

Now that you have everything set up to dual boot and the time to play around with Apple’s latest operating system, all you need to do is start the Mac and press the Option key until the Startup Manager appears. Here you’ll see the two macOS versions (the two volumes), so select Mojave as shown in the image above. And that’s it. Enjoy macOS Mojave and don’t forget to send Apple your feedback on how the operating system behaves on your machine.

As a business owner I like to keep my private number and business number separate but the native WhatsApp software only allows you to run one instance at a time. So whats the solution? Let me quickly show you!

[supsystic-social-sharing] The Issue
The native WhatsApp software only allows a single instance of its software to run at any one time so if you have two phone lines you can only run one version of the WhatsApp software at a time. This is a hassle because I want to be able to speak to clients via WhatsApp but dont want to expose my personal phone number but I also want to use my personal WhatsApp at the same time.
The Solution
I have found today a third party WhatsApp software which allows you to run a second WhatsApp window alongside the native WhatsApp window allowing you to keep the business and personal accounts separate and allowing you to chat with clients in one window and chat with your mates in the other.
As you can see in the screenshot below I am running my private WhatsApp and “business” WhatsApp on my mac desktop.
The Software
The third party WhatsApp software is called “ChatMate for WhatsApp”. It installs very easily and I was up and running in minutes. The cost of the software (in EU) is €2.99 one off payment.

They do offer a free trial which worked so well I upgraded within minutes. None of my apps are working on my mac.
